SERD is a non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and grass roots development organisation. It began in 1991, to support the poorest of the poor in socially and economically disadvantaged community groups. SERD is working in the Sivagangai, Ramnad and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu, South India.
Martin Blakebrough and I visited many inspiring and very practical projects in India at the beginning of May and virtually all of them are seeking to permanently improve the position of needy people. None was more practical, and capable of replication elsewhere in the world than one we visited in Delhi at the Health Education Drop-in-Centre run by SHARAN close to Azadpur Mandi in the largest Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market in Asia .
