This is the heart of the GLI site. This is where we publish the real life, 'learning by doing'stories about people making a difference in their communities around the world. Many of the stories come from GLI Networkers. Often they provide personal insights into the motivation and drive behind the social projects described - why they started, what they are doing and how they are doing it. If you have a great story about what you or your project is doing - or about someone you know - write and tell us about it - email Paul Bishop Click on the links on the left of this page to read more Inspire stories. If you are interested in projects in a particular country, then use the Select Country search box and click Go. Many social entrepreneurial projects tackle more than one social 'problem' at once so many projects are listed under more than one Category and some may also be listed under more than one country too. |
CCI-Kenya (Community Conservation Initiative)With over 1,000 Networkers from 58 different countries, GLI attracts a diverse range of people from all over the world and all walks of life. But not all of them are from far-flung places. Here's a piece from Networker Elizabeth Riddiford who lives on Fair Isle, a remote island near the Shetlands, north of Scotland. It's followed by an article on the island by musician, journalist and former Fair Isle resident Malachy Tallack. |
Xingeng Workshop - helping poor people and students in rural areasThanks to GLI Programme Assistant Jeanne Zhu for writing this story about the Xingeng Workshop- a new social enterprise in Shanghai, China. The workshop was founded in May, 2007 and a Xingeng networkers' salon was held recently. This story originates from a small wish: hoping vulnerable people in China's rural areas can work joyfully while their children study and live happily. |
