Gorton Arts & Community

The Global Links Initiative team recently met in Manchester and visited the Gorton Monastery Community Project. We were introduced to the small team running the project in their offices in a house on an adjacent housing estate. Among others, we met Ilma Scantlebury, an artist of Hungarian descent, who described her approach to art and community building. Her thoughts were so inspiring we thought we'd share them with you.

Winds of change - Community Windfarm

Arts Factory is working to develop a windfarm on the ridge between Rhondda Fach & Rhondda Fawr. There will be eight turbines. We are doing it to create an income stream to fund our work in the community. It will enable us to create new jobs for local people, delivering more free services to local people.
