Record Month for new GLI networkers
57 new Networkers joined from 15 different countries adding Georgia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Suriname since our last News Mail.
India, now with 60, dominated with 21 new Networkers. Japan also added 10 and we welcome particularly eight linked to ETIC- an organisation well known to GLI - see Takuji Hiroishi's profile below which explains ETIC's role. With this number of people joining us it's impractical to introduce them all here. We are looking at a new layout on our website which will make it much easier to pick out the latest joiners and read their profiles. Everyone is equally important to us but we will try to highlight as many of this month's new Networkers as we can to show the width of interest we're attracting. Of course Networkers' full details can be found by clicking on Get Involved then Networkers, selecting their country from the drop down box and then clicking on their name. So, for instance, all 21 new Indian Networkers can be found this way.

Tendai Ncube - Randburg, South Africa -ICTs For Rural Africa (ICTRA) - Africa can be developed like countries in the west. Poverty can be alleviated if the majority of the population is informed, uplifted and empowered. The majority population is found in the rural areas. People living in the cities have it all, be it access to latest news/information, access to clean water and sanitation, access to electricity, better education (schools & teachers), better health, better houses, fresh food etc. ICTs for Rural Africa is there to provide the skills to use a computer with more time spent on using the Internet as a source of information. If all people are well informed of opportunities around the world poverty will be reduced to zero. Information is knowledge and knowledge is power. The Internet has so much information on health issues, scholarships, job opportunities, export opportunities, access to funding, new farming methods, etc and it is our wish that every African gets access to this vital information.

These young experts are given the opportunity to prove how youth can contribute to community development in local cities, Japan. Currently 15 groups participate in the Challenge Community Project from all parts of Japan. We hope to exchange opinions on the management and development of such nation-wide networks on social entrepreneurship and on how young social entrepreneurs have scaled up/out (within a span of a couple years) and what sort of support was needed/given. Please contact me, if you have any interest in this Japanese project and social entrepreneur movement.
