The initiative is called Phelophepa which means 'good clean health' and the project 'runs' across the country in an old steam train of the same name. The train consists of an engine and 16 compartments and it is the only train in the world delivering comprehensive health programme to impoverished communities.
Association Civique Midlands (ACM) organized the 'Parcours du Coeur' in collaboration with the Mauritius Heart Foundation (MHF) and other stakeholders of the village of Midlands. Parcours du Coeur is an activity to detect new cases of cardio-vascular abnormalities and thus prevent people from future complications. The Mauritius Heart Foundation is an NGO (founded by the eminent cardiologist and Cabinet Minister Hon Dr. Vasant Kumar Bunwaree).
