Global Links Initiative has just (May 2006) become a member of  this newly-opened, convenient business and meeting venue, located in the heart of the City of London, less than 2 minutes walk from Liverpool Street Station. The Centre provides a flexible working environment away from home - the ideal place to work, to meet people, to have a coffee and to pick up your emails via a free WiFi service. We are an international development agency whose aim is to fight poverty worldwide. Formed in 1972, for over 30 years we have been growing and expanding to where we are today - helping over 13 million of the world's poorest and most disadvantaged people in 42 countries worldwide. In all of our country programmes we work with local partners to make the most of their knowledge and experience. In December 2003 we established a new head office in Johannesburg, South Africa, and began the process of making all our country programmes equal partners with an equal say on how we operate. We work with local partners to fight poverty and injustice worldwide, reaching over 13 million of the poorest and most vulnerable people over the last year alone, helping them fight for and gain their rights to food, shelter, work, education, healthcare and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

It is a global organization that searches the world for social entrepreneurs - extraordinary individuals with unprecedented ideas for change in their communities. Ashoka identifies and invests in these social entrepreneurs when no one else will. It does so through stipends and professional services that allow 'Ashoka Fellows' to focus full time on their ideas for leading social change in education and youth development, health care, environment, human rights, access to technology and economic development. Ashoka has invested in more than 1,400 Ashoka Fellows in 48 countries. Those Fellows have transformed the lives of millions of people in thousands of communities worldwide.
